We are living hard times. This is the era in the history of humankind with the most unstable weather and the most recurring, unprecedented natural disasters in the tropical regions of the world. It is time to unite in one hand to take the challenge in facing the vulnerability of our world, and to determine the common responsability that we share in the deaf communities of our contries.
The deaf youth worldwide must take a true commitment in leadership to sensitize and promote a sense of shared, sustainable responsability for our world, as well as concrete action in every country before the challenges brought by climatic change. We invite you to our First International Camp at Chirripó National Park, Costa Rica. This camp will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The First International Deaf Youth Camp: United Against Climatic Change - Chirripó 2013, will be held at Chirripó National Park, which is part of the Friendship Biosphere Reserve and one of the most diverse places with 400 species of birds, 266 species of amphibians and 60% of both vertebrate and invertebrate species in all Costa Rica.
The Camp site is located at the base of the plateaus, because this is a region affected by climatic change in our country. This is a perfect place to negotiate a strategic line in the agenda between the Regional Secretariat for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean Worl Deaf Federation’s (SRMCACWFD) and the Inter-Government Forum for Climatic Change - SINAC.
